Please give us a short summary of your website?
Reddi TV extracts videos from other websites automatically every few seconds. The Videos it extracts are all dancehall reggae related, making reddi tv the website with all the reggae videos on the web in one place! The site is keyword optimised and there are also hand picked tags to help the user navigate the site, which or updated on page refresh. The tags are very useful because you don't need to remember a event name or a artist name and so on.. because this has already been done for you. We have searched and included tags for many worldwide reggae events that the user wouldn't even know about.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I was sick of trying to find reggae and dancehall videos on youtube and coming up with the same results because I did not know what the event names were. So I research all the keywords for reggae and dancehall shows and events and built a simple keyword related site to pull them videos using youtube api.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website was http://wwww.doresinternet.com which is my webdesign company which was lauched back in 2006.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
All the names that I wanted were taken so I had to come up with somthing modern but reggae dancehall related.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Reddi TV just does what its ment to do. Simple to use, and the video archive is nearly endless. It Automatically updates its content so it is always up to date. The tag feature is growing as we research more worldwide events and include these daily.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Reddi TV is in its beta stage and we have many ideas we want to incorporate in to the site. I can't tell you our future plans for reddi tv revenue but at the moment it is ads by google adwords and amazon which generate little revenue for the site.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Reddi TV was very successfull in its early beta days when the site was very buggy. That inspirated me to invest more time in Reddi TV. The site was supposed to be a slow development but becsuse of its success i have decided to develop reddi tv on a day to day basis over the next two years.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Reddi TV has enough time and funds for development, and it will be completed in the next two years.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes reddi tv requires little administration. We would move to faster servers and cope with the demand.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Paying programmers to fix little bugs within the script was expensive. I am also currently tweaking the seo of reddi tv which is quite hard as the domain is quite new and the script is written in php.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding the time to research keywords to optimise redditv. Its was very boring and time consuming. but we have outsource this task now.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I started promoting it on my myspace first. You may think its a strange place but my myspace is very busy and generates about 100 hits per day http://www.myspace.com/2dcity I posted my flyer with a link to my website to lots of my myspace friends so when it appeared on there page it was another external link to my site!
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
None really.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Site been up for 4 months now and we will continue delevopment up to 2010 when we will review the sites worth again.
