Please give us a short summary of your website?
BraRoe Chess is a website that is devoted to providing Chess and Backgammon set to the game playing community. Additionally, we try to provide all the information required to make a better choice in chess set selection
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I thought that chess sets would be fun product to provide, especially due to their classic nature.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is actually my first website. I Launched in October of 2005.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
It is a combination of my first and last name.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Customer service. Also, I am trying to bring in more aspects of chess to this site.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I plan on keeping it for the long term. I am currently trying to work out a way to provide to charity with every sale I make.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It has been a struggle at first, but it is starting to come around.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would add more content relating to the community of chess players, possibly add a forum as well.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes we would, the warehouse is well managed.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The search engines. No body can really prepare you for them.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Balancing this with the rest of my life.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Shopping engines, especially Shopzilla.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Not really, there are always small details that pop-up that you realize, "wait I need to do that!", but there has not been anything that absoultely blindsided me.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have been running the site for about 2 years now, and I will keep running it as long as I can make customers happy.
