Name of your website?Independence School of Music
Your name?
Bob Collett
Your Location (city, etc)
Cleveland - Independence - Brecksville
Please give us a short summary of your website?
Our website describes our private and group lessons programs, out school instrument rental and repair business, and our products which includes music books and music accessories. Additionally we have a bunch of music lesson related articles covering subjects such as when to start music lessons, how to practice, etc.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I have been running a sucessful e-commerce website for years, so I know how helpful it is to customers. I launched the Independence School of Music, and want to make sure everyone knows about us
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website was called http://www.phonecardhotline.com and my second website was called http://www.hellocallingcards.com
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I used the closest name to the name I could find relating to my music lessons business which is Independence School of Music
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
My website has much more content and interesting articles as well as more specific offers than other local music store - music lesson websites
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
The goal of my website is to help local cleveland area parents find a good music school for their children to study lessons. My mission is that we prepare students to enjoy music throughout their lives. I believe that to achieve excellence in any endeavor requires focus and committment. Our focus is private music lessons and group music lessons
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I put so much time into my music school and the website, that I am probably working for less than $1 per hour. So I do not measure my sucess in money. I have had other very financially sucessful businesses.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
If I have an unlimited development budget, I would expand my online sheet music business, expand my instrument repair depot business, and get into offering resources to folks who want online music lessons.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Sure why not.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
none.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Taking over an established music school created some challenge because we had a few teachers who were not serious about teaching music lessons, and some parents who got into the habit of being somewhat cavalier toward attendance at their student's weekly music lessons.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Organic SEO.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has not yet begun to generate the lessons business I am targeting.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have run this site for only 30 days. I am already ranked #1 for my important key words in some catagories. It will be sucessful.
What's next.
I look forward to building our music school into a community school that brings music instruction to kids who normally can not afford private lessons. Music represents an opportunity to save kids.
