Please give us a short summary of your website?
An online Disney website & community. We have forums, fun and friendly people and are family & all ages appropriate. We've got Disney info, contests, prizes, fun & games!
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I wanted a fun family friendly place to allow all ages to come together and meet each other and share thier love of Disney.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I was 17, back in 1996, it was a fan site of my favorite anime, Sailor Moon. I ran it for years before I got busy ad eventually forgot to update. It is still around and stil popular.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The Second Star to the Right is the description of where Neverland fromt he movie Peter Pan is. It;s a place of magic and fun, so I thought it fitting.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We offer a true family friendly environment. Our word changer automatically changes inappropriate words to famil friendly words, we have a seperate 18+ group where approval is needed to join, allwoing safer access for children & teens ont he other forums. We're friendly, and have great ideas for our site including contests, games & more.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To maintaint his website as a fun place to meet other Disney fans for many eyars to come.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
My time is invested with the hopes of making a new, fun way to meet new friends, and allow others to meet new friends as well. Success to me would be a thriving community!
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would run it on a paid non advertismet domain name, without any ads or clutter. I would also purchase paint shop pro, so that I could make better graphics with ease. I would also purchase weekly gifts for members for contest prizes, instead of once every month or so.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
yes, my best friend, husband & I are responsible for the site currently. As we grow, our moderator team will also grow, with an aplication process to screen possible moderators.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
extra time & money, and frutration and being unable to make sooth graphics for the site to make it look moe polished.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The graphics.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I've only just begun so I am not quite sure.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It's not gaining members fast enough,
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
3 days, and I plan to keep it forever.
What would you like to see happen in the near future for your site?
I would like to gain 50 members within the next 2 months.
