Please give us a short summary of your website?
My web site is a step by step guide on how to host the perfect party. With lots of ideas on food, decorations, themes, birthdays, cocktails and games.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I wanted to originally have a website on cooking but found I would be lost among such a broad subject. Then I realized I knew how to put on a party that had my friends talking about it for months that created wonderful memories and good times. I also found that there were a lot of people out there that wanted and needed these ideas so here I am!
When did you launch your first website?
This is my second web site but the first one that I've built on my very own from scratch. I listed my domain on May 5th of 2008.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I decided on the party planning guide because it told everyone this is where they want to go to make sure they cover all there bases when entertaining.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
My web site is full of content. Information that people want without weeding through all the advertisements.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
All of those sound like interesting ideas. But looking at the big picture, I've always dreamed of writing a book and having it featured on the food network.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I am paying it forward right now. Check back with me in a few months and I'll let you know.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
That is easy. I would spend more and build more websites.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Well, I think there would be growing pains as with anything that happens quickly. But with success comes all those people and situations that want to be apart of that success. So the answer is yes, myself and all the others that want to be apart of it would be able to keep up with the demand.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
It costs a lot of time. It costs a lot of research. It is something that takes a lot longer than I ever dreamed. A quality web site doesn't go up over night.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Learning something I've never done before. I barely knew how to turn on the computer six months ago. And, I not only built a web site I can do it again.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Giving people what they want....INFORMATION. Quality content.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has taken longer than I thought it would.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have been running this site about a month now but started this endeavor five months ago. Because I know that I am doing it the right way failure isn't in my mind as an option. Don't get me wrong. When I went to set up my domain name I held my breath. But I believe that the months and months of research on supply and demand of my subject will yield success.
