Please give us a short summary of your website?

What inspired you to launch your own website?
With an interest in games, it was a natural progression. I went to game design school, and shortly after I was out of school my friend that started the site was killed in a car accident. We had discussed plans for the site, which he had setup with some games and mostly free hosting, and so after his death I bought the site from his family and added alot of games, and reworked the design and layout, and artwork etc. He didn't have alot of time for the site, so it needed alot of work.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
One of my first sites was http://www.clubjoke.com Which is still up and running.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name was easy. It describes the site content perfectly.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
The layout of the games is simple, and categorized, plus the user has the ability to rate, and comment on each game, or download games to use on their own website. Also, free hosting is provided.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To keep building the site and adding more games. Games for mobile devices is in the process of being implemented.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Huge imbalance. Alot of time and money has been spent compared to the return, however that should change soon.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
The budget would be applied to marketing the site to increase traffic, to hire some programming help, and add prize and giveaway promotions, and of course add more games.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes. Definetly. Everything has been updated and upgraded including the servers, increasing bandwidth, storage, processing speed, RAM, etc.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The site had to be completely reworked, and it took longer than expected once I got into it.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge was changing hosting providers.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Thats a good question. Its too early to tell.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Not much.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Gameroom will be around forever. The traffic is steady, and increasing daily as the word gets out.
What is your website address?

No trackbacks.
