What inspired you to launch your own website?
The Internet was just getting started and I wanted to be part of the new media, the NET
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
http://www.californiadiscjockey.com 1990 This is my main website
serving all of Northern California area for weddings, corporate events
and parties.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I choose website names unique to a geographic area for people to identify with...I operate a set of sites which cater to people in each area.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I am from England and I believe my professionalism sets me apart from some of the other DJs in the San Francisco Bay Area.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I plan to retain my websites as a marketing too since the NET is here to stay and it makes common sense to have a website to market my professional services.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The Web has been good to me. I get leads from my websites and recommend it for anyone with a product or service.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
no change
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I farm out work occasionally to other DJs whos work I know and trust. I would have no trouble with the demand, as I also do some wedding planning and event management.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
n/a
What has been your biggest challenge?
The wedding industry has been undercut in the past several years by younger DJs without much experience and often they dont have very professional Equipment. The cost for a wedding has plummeted form several thousand dollars to a few hundred, for the services of the wedding DJ. This hurts the industry but times change. My rates are reasonable and I provide quality service.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Internet Marketing
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It was everything I expected
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
1990 and I plan to continue regardless
Replace this with a question of your own
What is service?
Service is caring about your clients and meeting their every expectation.
What is your website address?
